Chelsea striker Costa should make quick decision with Chinese FA to regulate ‘irrational’ spending

The Chinese Football Association is set to regulate its national leagues in a bid to develop the game at a local level.

A statement from the Chinese FA suggests that 'a series of measures and initiatives to regulate the operation and management' of clubs will soon be carried out as part of the “Overall Plan for Reform and Development of Chinese Football".

The idea stems from the recent ridiculous spending by Chinese Super League clubs which threatens to ruin grassroots development of the game in the Far East.

The statement added that the new measures will address 'recent irrational investments by clubs, high-figure transfer fees and salaries paid to domestic and international athletes and other issues'.

This means that the likes of Chelsea striker Diego Costa, Manchester United winger Ashley Young, Napoli's Dries Mertens and Fiorentina's Nikola Kalinic, among others, will have to swiftly decide on their futures if they want to land a big pay day soon.

Brazilian midfielder Oscar and Argentine striker Carlos Tevez had their heads turned by China's financial muscle recently and it is expected that more will follow suit before these expected measures are put in place.
