Chelsea striker Patrick Bamford has paid an emotional tribute to late Nottingham Forest chairman Nigel Doughty after a dream home debut for Derby.
The on-loan Chelsea striker was the businessman's god son and came through the Reds' youth ranks. And after scoring the winner on his first appearance back in the East Midlands he raised his hands and head above to remember the man who helped him become the player he is today.
Doughty died in 2012 after 12 years as Forest's chairman.
Bamford said: "I don't know if the fans will like me saying this but I was really close to the ex-chairman of Nottingham Forest Nigel so that was just to say thank you.
"I was his god son. Him and my dad were best mates ever since they grew up. I've grown up with his son Michael who is on loan at Stevenage.
"It was a sad loss when we lost him, that was just me saying thank you.
"We were very close. He lived down in London and I lived in Nottingham but in the holidays we always just spent time together."
