Chelsea striker Demba Ba is surprised by the success of Newcastle United's French signings.

Ba says the French recruitment drive is pushed by Toon manager Alan Pardew.

He told RMC: "I was surprised by the arrival of all the French players at Newcastle, but this is due to the coach.

"Alan Pardew greatly appreciates the quality of French football and the mentality of their players.

"When they are fully integrated into the style of the Premier League, Newcastle could be one of the best clubs in the world."
