New York Red Bulls intend to step up their pursuit of Chelsea striker Nicolas Anelka this year.
L'Equipe says Anelka, now inside the final 18 months of his Chelsea deal, could seek a move to MLS at the end of the season.
The Frenchman's brother, Claude, is involved in the USL and Anelka also remains close friends with Red Bulls star Thierry Henry.
New York still have two DP slots to fill for the coming season.
