Chelsea strike Sevilla deal for Alves

Chelsea are on the verge of closing a deal for Sevilla wing-back Daniel Alves.

Reports emanating from Spain have claimed Chelsea have agreed a deal to sign Alves following extensive negotiations with Sevilla.

Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon has been in Madrid this week, in order to hold talks with Sevilla vice-president Jose Maria Cruz and their director of sport Ramon Rodriquez Monchi.

It has been reported in Spain that the two clubs have now concurred on a fee of around 32 million euros (£25m).

Chelsea had hoped to land the talented Brazilian for around £20m but if reports are to be believed, Sevilla have held out for, and received, a more attractive offer.

Jose Mourinho has made no secret of his desire to add a new right-back to his playing ranks, and it does now look as though his wish has been granted with the noticeable capture of Alves.
