Chelsea are monitoring Kieron Dyer's situation at Newcastle United.
The Journal says Tottenham have registered their interest in the England midfielder, while there are also rumours circulating in the capital that Chelsea could make a surprise bid this summer as his versatility appeals to manager Jose Mourinho.
However, while a large section of Newcastle supporters would welcome the club cashing in on Dyer after eight years on Tyneside, that has not persuaded Allardyce to sell him and he has privately assured the player that he will protect him against supporters' criticism if it continues next season.
