Chelsea are determined to beat Tottenham for off contract Everton midfielder Steven Pienaar. The Daily Mail says Chelsea will table a £3 million offer for the South Africa international.
Reports today suggest he may already have agreed a £70,000-a-week four-year deal at White Hart Lane.
However, it is understood that the player would prefer to leave in the January window and Tottenham's pursuit of David Beckham has allowed Chelsea to move in.
Pienaar, 28, is eligible to play in Europe and would relish the chance to play for Chelsea who are willing to offer around £3m.
