Chelsea skipper Terry: People tell me AVB right man for job

Chelsea skipper John Terry says Andre Villas-Boas deserves time to make his mark at the club.

Villas-Boas is Chelsea's eighth manger in the last seven years with predecessors such as Carlo Ancelotti, Jose Mourinho, Avram Grant, Luiz-Felipe Scolari and Claudio Ranieri all sacked.

Many of those managers were said to have suffered interference from above - with players such as Andriy Shevchenko and perhaps even Fernando Torres foisted on them.

But Terry says new boy Villas-Boas must be left to do things his way.

He said: "Hopefully he can bring us a lot of trophies because he's a fantastic manager. He's learned from the best and he wants to be that.

"I've spoken to people at the club and they said as soon as they sat down and spoke with him they realised he was the right man for the job.

"So what we need now is stability. I stressed it a couple of years ago and we thought we had it when Carlo came in. Hopefully we have it now."
