Chelsea skipper John Terry can find sympathy in the Manchester United camp over his Champions League final spotkick miss.
Carrick, who was successful in that shoot-out, has sympathy with Terry and believes another close encounter is in store.
He said: "John missing the penalty after slipping - I wouldn't wish that on anyone in those circumstances.
"Of course we were delighted to win but it must be a horrible way to lose. We know Chelsea very well, they know us so I'm sure it will be a very tight game again. Maybe away goals will play a big part in it."
