Chelsea skipper John Terry says England fans should forget last year's World Cup flop.
While the critics will point to the goalless draw with Montenegro at Wembley in October as a sign of the inability the team showed on the biggest stage last year, the 4-0 win over Bulgaria, 3-1 triumph in Switzerland and 2-0 stroll over Wales should also provide some cause for optimism.
John Terry certainly believes fans need to forget the problems of yesteryear and look forward more confidently.
He told the London Evening Standard: "Now is the time we should be looking to the future not the past. We have to think positively. Sometimes as a country we dwell on things too much and we try and pick things out. Because we get such a big break at times at international level, we get a long drag of, 'Is it this that's wrong or is it that' and I don't think that helps.
"Now we have reached the halfway stage of qualifying for Euro 2012 and it is a very significant time. We are in a really good position in the group.
"I don't think it's important we qualify with an unbeaten record, the main thing is that we get through the group and do so automatically."
