Chelsea skipper Terry cleared of serious injury

Chelsea can breathe a sigh of relief after captain John Terry was cleared of any serious damage.

The veteran centre-half was stretchered off the Stamford Bridge pitch during the first half of yesterday's 1-1 draw with Liverpool after a collision with Luis Suarez.

Terry clutched his knee in agony as he called for medical attention and it was feared that he could be sidelined for the long-term with a serious knee injury.

But the results of a scan today have showed that Terry will be able to return to action in a number of weeks.

"MRI Scans reveal no significant damage to John Terry's cruciate ligaments," read Chelsea's official Twitter account.

"He will be out weeks rather than months."
