Chelsea are remaining silent on reports of the imminent appointment of Avram Grant as the club's new sporting director.

The former Israeli national manager is reported to be in talks with Chelsea, with a view to taking office on 1 July.

A Chelsea spokesman said: "Avram Grant is an employee of another football club and, as such, we will not comment."

Grant is currently football director at Portsmouth.
