He took to Instagram last night to declare: "It's difficult to put my thoughts into words right now, and if I think about these two and a half years together, maybe I should write a book. Thanks to each of you, fans, comrades, staff, media for all that you have given me over the years, I arrived as a boy with a suitcase of dreams and I go as a man.
"They were incredible years, because this team throws you down and then repays you, I suffered the initial skepticism and then it was even better to climb the positions, find continuity, enter your hearts and hear your applause.
"My suitcase of dreams is now a suitcase of memories, my heart is leaning towards my new adventure but it is full of everything you have given me.
"Thanks, I'll always be a Roma fan."
