Chelsea see Athletic Bilbao contract rebel Llorente as Drogba replacement

Chelsea are eyeing Athletic Bilbao striker Fernando Llorente.

The London Evening Standard says Llorente has turned down a new contract with Athletic Bilbao.

The 6ft 5in frontman wants the club to double his wages and has rejected a three-year extension after they refused to meet his demands.

The striker's current deal expires next summer and is said to be asking for £80,000-a-week, while Bilbao are only willing to go to £60,000.

Chelsea are looking for a replacement for Didier Drogba and the big Spanish striker has the physical attributes as well as the eye for goal to fill the void left by the outgoing Ivory Coast international.

Bilbao are thought to be willing to let him go for around £15 million, making him an appealing prospect for Roberto Di Matteo as he looks to build on last year's Champions League success.
