Chelsea have failed with an incredible £70 million offer for Bayern Munich star Franck Ribery.

The bid would have met Bayern's various arbitrary figures that directors have bandied about this summer, but El Mundo Deportivo claim the approach was knocked back.

Ribery is keen on a move to Real Madrid but the high-spending Spaniards are not prepared to be ripped off for the 26-year-old.
