Chelsea's Terry confident of bridging gap with Man Utd

Chelsea captain John Terry is not closing the door on this season's Premier League title.

The central defender believes the Blues are good enough to win their second consecutive Premiership despite the fact they sit 12 points behind league leaders Manchester United.

Chelsea host United at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday and the skipper is well aware just how important that fixture will be in the run-in.

"It's been done," Terry said. "Manchester United did it to Newcastle (in 1995/96). It's possible. A little bit of pressure and you never know.

"There's a really small chance, but [next week] is a must-win game. That's not hyping the game. It's a massive game anyway, like it always will be against Manchester United. but, for us, it's a must-win.

"Who knows what game-plan they're going to come down with? They're playing well, so they'll probably be confident of coming down and getting something, which will hopefully suit us."

Terry admits that Carlo Ancelotti's squad has lost some invaluable experience this season but feels that the current crop has got what it takes to achieve success.

"We've been there, we've seen it, we've done it, we've got the t-shirt," he added.

"We lost a couple of experienced players in Ballack and Belletti and Deco last year. And when we do go on a bad run, people pinpoint the age. But we are no different to the likes of United and other sides in and around us.

"What we have got is an awful lot of experience, a lot of trust in each other and belief that we can still do it. And I think that's testament to ourselves."
