Chelsea's Spanish duo Azpilicueta and Alonso welcome Morata

Chelsea's Spanish duo Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso have welcomed Alvaro Morata to the club.

The former Real Madrid striker signed for Chelsea yesterday.

Azpilicueta said: "I know him from playing together for Spain. I've spoken to him and he told me he's really happy to be joining Chelsea.

"He's spoken to the manager and he's feeling very pleased with the move. He knows this is a very demanding club but he has always played for top teams, so hopefully his experience will help us a lot.

"He has already proven his quality at big clubs such as Real Madrid and Juventus.

"In terms of his attributes as a striker, he scores a lot of goals, and important goals as well. He's very good technically and he's a strong player.

"The Premier League is different to Spain but I'm sure he will adapt and show his great ability. He's a Spain international but he is young so obviously he can still improve further."

Alonso added: "I know him better away from the pitch but he's a player we will need. He's a very good striker and in great condition for the Premier League.

"He's physically strong, quick and most importantly he's always been a goalscorer, so we're very happy to have him with us and I'm looking forward to seeing him in a Chelsea shirt.

"It's always good to have competition for places, it can only help us as a team and individually.

"It's great to have these players coming in and hopefully we can achieve good things together."
