Chelsea's Moses saves Nigeria blushes

Victor Moses has saved Nigeria from a potential embarrassing result against Ethiopia in the African Cup of Nations in South Africa.

The Super Eagles were in danger of missing the quarter-finals because of their disciplinary record and it looked drastic when the game was scoreless with just over 10 minutes remaining.

But Chelsea winger Moses won a penalty and then converted it himself in the 79th minute before doing the same in the final minute of regular time, slotting past midfielder Addis Hintsa who had to take the gloves after goalkeeper Sisay Bancha was sent off.

The 2-0 victory allowed Nigeria to finish second on the Group C table, two points ahead of Zambia, joining Burkina Faso in the final eight where the Super Eagles await the Group D winner which at present is Ivory Coast. Burkina Faso will take on Group D's second-placed side.
