Chelsea's Mata reserves praise for Tottenham's Bale - 'He's a superb player'

Chelsea midfielder Juan Mata has congratulated Gareth Bale for being named this season's PFA Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year.

The Tottenham ace beat Mata and teammate Eden Hazard as well as Manchester United star Robin van Persie, Liverpool striker Luis Suarez and United midfielder Michael Carrick to the main award, prompting high praise from the Spaniard.

"Congratulations to Gareth Bale for being named player of the year and young player of the year," Mata wrote on his blog for Grada360.com.

"He's a superb player with amazing skills and he's only 23 years old."

The Welshman also edged Hazard, Arsenal's Jack Wilshere, United's Danny Welbeck, Chelsea's West Bromwich Albion loanee Romelu Lukaku and Aston Villa's Christian Benteke to the young player prize.
