Chelsea signing Juan Mata has extended his gratitude to teammate Yossi Benayoun after the Israeli vacated the number 10 shirt for him.

Mata this week joined the Blues from Spanish club Valencia for around £24million and will wear the number 10 shirt after Benayoun stepped aside, indicating he may be on his way out at Stamford Bridge.

"Very grateful for having been given the number 10..a pleasure and an honour for me, great player and better person, thanks Yossi!" Mata posted on his Twitter page.
