Chelsea's Malouda in line for France captaincy

Chelsea winger Florent Malouda is one of five names being lined up for the French national team captaincy.

The 30-year old has been put on a shortlist by Les Bleus boss Laurent Blanc who is yet to announce his replacement for Manchester United's Patrice Evra.

Blanc has been rotating the armband since he took over from Raymond Domenech and is expected to announce his skipper by the end of Euro2012 qualifying.

"I'm not going to announce the name of the captain but four or five players who will grow in importance: (Hugo) Lloris, (Eric) Abidal, (Alou) Diarra, Malouda, and I hope to add (Philippe) Mexes when he returns from injury," said Blanc.

"Nobody has emerged and we'll see if someone manages to do that in the squad. I'm waiting to see the transfers a bit, which could change things."
