Chelsea's Lampard not planning retirement

Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard says he is not even contemplating retirement.

The 33-year old is certainly entering his twilight years but insists he can remain playing at the top well into his late 30s much like Manchester United counterparts Ryan Giggs and the recently-retired Paul Scholes and Gary Neville.

"You look at your contract and how long you have left and I will always want to extend it while I am fit enough and good enough at the job," he told Chelsea TV.

"I understand Paul Scholes and Gary Neville when they feel their time is up, they are not as happy as they used to be or they are not playing as much, and they take that [retirement] decision but I am always of the mindset - that I am sure Ryan Giggs probably is - that you are a long time retired and we love and are very fortunate to do what we do, so the longer you can do it at the top level the better."
