Chelsea's Ivanovic could be banned for violent conduct

Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic will learn this week if he is to serve a ban for allegedly punching Wigan Athletic's Shaun Maloney on the weekend.

The Serbian international, who scored his side's opening goal in the 2-1 win, appeared to strike Maloney in the stomach moments before Juan Mata's late winner.

The Football Association will review video footage of the incident, which has not yet been reported by referee Mike Jones, and if found guilty, Ivanovic faces a three-match ban for violent conduct.
