Chelsea's Essien planning successful spell with Real Madrid

Michael Essien has immediately targeted trophies following his loan move to Real Madrid.

The Ghanaian midfielder will spend the season on loan with the Spanish champions after Chelsea farmed him out and he is only thinking of success with his new club despite being a part of the Blues' Champions League triumph last term.

"During my time here I hope to help Real Madrid win titles," he told the club's official website.

"I want to work hard and do everything in my power to return the team to the top of the league.

"Our Champions League group is tough (Manchester City, Ajax and Borussia Dortmund), but with these players we can go far."
