Chelsea's Courtois heads back to Atletico Madrid

Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois will head back to Atletico Madrid for another season-long loan.

The 20-year old, who joined the Blues from Belgian club Genk last summer, made the gloves his own at the Vicente Calderon last season as Atletico took the Europa League title and will now return to Spain for the 2012/13 campaign.

"Chelsea FC can confirm that Thibaut Courtois' loan deal with Atletico Madrid has been extended for a further 12 months," he told the club's official website.

"The young goalkeeper impressed during his time with the Spanish club last season, making 52 appearances and ending the season with a Europa League winners' medal, playing the full 90 minutes as Atletico beat Athletic Bilbao 3-0 in the final."
