Monday night's 4-0 away win over Bolton was just the tonic Chelsea needed to get their title defence back on track.
After a blistering start to the season, the Blues fell away dramatically before slowly coming back to form in recent weeks.
They easily got past the Trotters at Reebok Stadium to notch up two wins in a row and bridge the gap on third-placed Manchester City.
And even though the Stamford Bridge club is seven points in arrears of league leaders Manchester United, Terry feels that the Blues are indeed back in the Premiership hunt.
"In the past we've never given up," he told Sky Sports.
"Manchester United are playing well at the moment and getting the right results, maybe getting a bit of luck too.
"But things can change and if we can win both games against them we'll be right back in it."
Terry continued: "Away from home, at times we have shown very good form this season but tonight everything went really well for us.
"Didier (Drogba) got us off to good start with probably the best goal of this season so far and we worked really hard all over the park. We stopped Bolton playing and it worked for us."
