Chelsea defender Jose Bosingwa's recent outburst directed at Portugal manager Paulo Bento has been criticised by his country's Football Association.
Portuguese FA president Gilberto Madail was left out of the squad to face Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Euro2012 play-offs beginning on Friday because of attitude issues.
Bosingwa hit back by saying Bento is incapable of international management and claiming he will not play under him whilst he is coach of Portugal.
But now Madail has hit out at the Blues full-back, indicating that Bosingwa was just bitter about not gaining selection.
"These type of incidents are always a nuisance, particularly on the eve of such important games," he told Radio Renaissance.
"Paulo Bento has to decide how to understand his comments, so I have nothing to say on this, besides the inappropriateness of the timing.
"The current national selector has installed an excellent environment.
''These situations affect the performance of some players. I think it is an outburst from someone who wanted to be selected and was not."
