Marco van Ginkel rejected a move to Ajax during the winter transfer window according to Frank de Boer.
The boss of the Amsterdam giants attempted to sign 22-year old midfielder on loan from AC Milan who have him on a season-long spell from Chelsea.
De Boer was in need of some reinforcements during the winter window and admitted he was interested in van Ginkel but the former Vitesse Arnhem young gun opted against a return to his homeland.
"We asked van Ginkel if he wanted to move, because Davy Klaassen and Thulani Serero were not fit," he said.
"At first we were looking at him and after that we focused on (Daley) Sinkgraven for the future.
"Due to injuries we needed Sinkgraven right away. And besides that, van Ginkel didn't want to come."
Van Ginkel was recently sidelined for two months with an ankle injury but returned to action for the Rossoneri in the January 24 loss to Lazio.
