Chelsea are prepared to compete with Liverpool for unsettled Barcelona striker David Villa. The Daily Mail says Blues manager Andre Villas-Boas is planning a huge shake-up of his squad in 2012.

Tentative enquiries were made for David Villa in the summer and the striker has slipped out of favour at Barcelona. There is a long-standing interest in Lille's Eden Hazard.

Chelsea were told to come back in 12 months when they made contact last January.
