Manchester United attacker Juan Mata admits that the heavy defeat against Chelsea was a bitter experience.
United manager Jose Mourinho's homecoming to Stamford Bridge could not have gone any worse as he saw the Red Devils succumb to a humiliating 4-0 defeat against former side Chelsea on Sunday.
United were totally outclassed in every area of the pitch by Chelsea and following the game, attacking midfielder Mata has described the result as a 'painful' one.
The Spaniard told MUTV: "It was a tough afternoon, a very painful result.
"Obviously we were thinking about a different kind of game and it started badly with the first goal in the first minute.
"After that we tried to create, we tried to score goals, but I think when we were in our best moment we conceded the second goal. It was one of those difficult days but we have to keep going.
"That's football and that's the way it is. Today we feel bad, but we have a game in three days and if we win that game we will feel completely opposite. You have to be stable in your mind and keep working hard."
