Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti will not throw Frank Lampard back into Premier League action this weekend. The England international is still working his way back to full fitness following a hernia operation and will not be risked against Blackpool on Sunday.
He is, however, closing on a first-team return and could be drafted back into the fold when Chelsea host Newcastle in the Carling Cup on Wednesday.
"Lampard will be out," said Ancelotti.
"I don't think he'll be able to play on Sunday, but he will be ready to play in the Carling Cup next week.
"He's training but we don't want to take a risk. He has to put more power in his adductor, so he'll have to train again."
