Chelsea receive good news with Drogba, Kalou African nominations

Chelsea have received some rare good news with Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou still in the running for 2010 African Player of the Year.

The original list of 10 nominations announced last month has been cut to five and Drogba and Kalou are in competition with Inter's Samuel Eto'o, Sunderland's Asamoah Gyan and Barcelona's Seydou Keita.

Drogba won the continental accolade last season and in 2006 whereas this year is Kalou's first among the nominees.

The shortlist will be reduced to three names on December 11 with the winner announced in Cairo on December 20.

The national coaches from 54 countries affiliated to the Confederation of African Football decide the winner.
