Chelsea have pulled out of talks for Atletico Madrid striker Sergio Aguero.
The Mirror says Chelsea are pulling the plug on a move for Aguero after the Argentine refused to drop his wage demands.
The Stamford Bridge outfit made enquiries about an initial £30million tester bid for the South American, who scored a brilliant Champions League brace against Carlo Ancelotti's side in November.
Chelsea expected that to be met with a refusal, aware of Atletico's £50m valuation of the Argentine, but hoped it would be a carrot to persuade Aguero to help make the deal happen.
But with Atletico likely to be asked for any deal to be conditional on Aguero being loaned back for the rest of the season, his representatives have made it clear they will not consider a move unless his £200,000 per week salary demands were met.
That is way above what Chelsea will even consider paying for a player who is unproven in English football, and the intransigence appears to have scuppered any prospect of a move.
