Chelsea are considering a move for Bayern Munich striker Mario Gomez.

The Daily Express says the Germany international is high on the club's wish-list, and would be a marquee signing if a deal were agreed.

Chelsea have become increasingly concerned by the form of wayward striker Fernando Torres and have identified Gomez as the calibre of player that could provide them with more attacking options.

It is believed that Chelsea are willing to pay north of £40m to prise Gomez away from the German giants.
