Chelsea are eyeing Tottenham fullback Benoit Assou-Ekotto.

The Sunday Mirror says with Ashley Cole set to leave ­when his ­contract ­expires at the end of the ­season, Chelsea need a new left-back.

Chelsea are looking at testing the water with a £5million bid for Assou-Ekotto, which would still give Tottenham a good ­profit on the Cameroon international who they signed from French club Lens for £3.5million in 2006.
