Chelsea planning bid for Everton winger Donovan
Chelsea are eyeing Everton winger Landon Donovan.
The People says Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti sees the on-loan LA Galaxy captain as a replacement for Joe Cole.
Ancelotti has been so impressed with the Los Angeles Galaxy forward during his loan spell with Everton, that he has asked club chiefs to open talks with Major League Soccer chiefs about a permanent transfer.
Donovan, 28, is due to return to LA for the start of the MLS season after today's Premier League clash with Hull - although Everton boss David Moyes hopes to extend the loan deal.
But Moyes knows Everton cannot afford to sign the player on a permanent basis.
Donovan's spell at Goodison Park has been such a success that the player is said to be tempted by the prospect of a permanent move to the Premier League.
And Ancelotti believes Donovan would fit perfectly into a front three with Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka.

donovan is a decent player, hes quick and is smart in and around goal. It will be a different type of player and chelsea could benefit from it, I dont see a huge price tag on his head, so it will be a good oppurtunity for him to show up on chelseas squad list. Ill back the buy once he isnt injury prone
Donovan is by far the best right winger in the EPL this season, even on loan. He took ashley cole and chelsea to school when they met, Man U couldn't keep pace with him, and he'll do the same damage to whoever england throws at him in the w/c. he's unstoppable in open field. It's a business, so chelsea will make more sense given the huge transfer fee involved. otherwise, he would be better of in everton, where along wih arteta, he is adored.
donovan to chelsea!? you must be ***** kidding me
