Chelsea plan to upgrade Mata contract

Chelsea are ready to hand new terms to Juan Mata.

The Sunday Mirror says Chelsea are set to offer Mata a new contract that will keep him at Stamford Bridge for the next five years.

The 24-year-old midfield star is 18 months into the deal he signed when he joined Chelsea from Valencia in August last year.

He cost £23.5million but has made a huge impact and proved well worth the fee.

The Spain international has settled quickly at Chelsea, unlike his struggling compatriot Fernando Torres.
