Chelsea are expected to turn up the heat on Tottenham over Luka Modric this week.
The People says word coming from Stamford Bridge last night is that Chelsea are in no mood to back off because they know Modric - signed from Dinamo Zagreb in 2008 for £16.6million - wants to join them.
It's a nightmare scenario for manager Harry Redknapp who always feared a bid would materialise for Modric this summer after a brilliant season - especially as he's a relatively low earner on £45,000 a week.
Modric can triple his wages with a move to any of the clubs pursuing him - and unless chairman Daniel Levy suddenly doubles his money at the very least it seems unthinkable that the Croatian will be a Spurs player when the season starts.
