Chelsea plan £10M raid for Blackburn's Bentley

Chelsea are planning a £10 million bid for Blackburn Rovers midfielder David Bentley.

The People says Blues boss Avram Grant has been alerted to the fact that Bentley is stalling on contract talks at Blackburn, and is hoping to lure the winger back to London.

Former Arsenal trainee Bentley signed a new contract last year that ties him to Ewood Park until the summer of 2011.

But given his excellent form, Blackburn are keen to offer him an extended deal on vastly improved terms in an attempt to keep him sweet.

Rovers chairman John Williams said: "David signed a new contract a year ago but needs a new one now. I would hope we could keep a player like David Bentley happy."
