Manchester United are also tracking the 17 year-old, who has been likened to Reds legend Bryan Robson.

The Daily Mail says Chelsea lead the Barclays Premier League clubs that are monitoring his progress.

Everton are not looking to offload Barkley and will offer him a long-term deal when he turns 18 in December but manager David Moyes is well aware that will not stop their rivals plotting to sign the midfielder.
