Chelsea paid £50M for Torres but we wouldn't have - Barcelona

Barcelona director Raul Sanllehi insists that the Catalan giants would not have paid anywhere near £50million to Liverpool for Fernando Torres. The talented Spaniard joined Chelsea last week for the British record transfer fee but it is certainly a price that Barca would not have paid according to Sanllehi.

"Yes it was overpriced," he said. "I know Barcelona would not do that signing. We would not even consider it," he said.

He could also not understand the inflated fees of players such as David Luiz (Benfica to Chelsea), Luis Suarez (Ajax to Liverpool) and Andy Carroll (Newcastle to Liverpool).

"I was shocked by the amount spent, especially in the winter time. I felt the amount was very high," he added.
