Chelsea owner Abramovich set for New York move

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is planning to spend more time in New York.

The New York Post says he is set to buy the majority of a city block, which he will eventually turn into one of the city's biggest mansions.

Abramovich has been on a lengthy property search in the Big Apple, after having a $75million bid on a home overlooking Central Park Zoo turned down in 2014.

Since then, he has been buying up the narrow townhouses on the Upper East Side - and area where some of the richest people ever known in New York have lived.

The Chelsea supremo spent $29.7million on a property on East 75th Street in October, before buying the house two doors down for $18.3million just prior to Christmas.
