Chelsea owner Abramovich buying big in New York

Roman Abramovich is reportedly looking to develop a 'super mansion' in New York City.

The Russian billionaire and Chelsea FC owner has already snapped up two properties in East 75th street and has now offered $20million for the apartment between the initial pair.

The New York Post reports that Abramovich spent $29.7million and $18.3million on the two flats prior to Christmas and has now agreed a deal with owners Mark and Lori Fife to clinch the third property.

Abramovich, who already owns the world's biggest yacht, then plans to turn the city block into one of the largest mansions in the 'Big Apple' at a cost of more than $70m (£46m).
