Chelsea have informed Manchester United they can sign Nemanja Matic this summer.
The London Evening Standard says Chelsea are prepared to sell Matic to rivals Manchester United - as long as they meet their £50m asking price.
It is understood that Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich won't block Matic's departure to Old Trafford as a sign of his gratitude for helping the club win the title in 2015 and 2017.
It is not the first time that Abramovich has acted in such a way having allowed keeper Petr Cech to move to Arsenal in 2015.
The 28-year-old midfielder has been unhappy at Chelsea for some time and was close to a move to Juventus and Liverpool last summer only for coach Antonio Conte to prevent the switch.
