Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini is determined to win the race for Atletico Madrid star Radamel Falcao. The Sunday Telegraph says the 26-year-old striker, in scintillating form this season and rated at £46million by Atletico Madrid, is Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich's prime target.

Mancini has flown to Madrid to talk to Jorge Mendes, the player's representative, and more than one meeting has taken place.

Falcao is asking for around £5m a year after tax - but given his standing as currently the world's finest centre-forward, both Man City and Chelsea might be willing to pay.
