Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas is facing an uphill battle to convince Real Madrid to take him on.

Sport revealed this week that Cesc had called Real president Florentino Perez directly about a move from London.

However, local reporter Tomás Roncero says Cesc failed to convince Perez.

He told El Chiringuito: "Real Madrid is not an NGO. I understand that he wants to play for Real Madrid, he wants to come, but if he comes, it is to be behind James (in the hierarchy).

"However, it is significant that he wants to join Real Madrid."
