Chelsea have opened talks with Atletico Madrid for defender Joao Miranda. The Daily Star says the Blues are in negotiations over a £20m bid for Atletico defender Miranda.
Chelsea asked about Miranda's availability during the final phase of negotiations for the transfer of Atletico full back Filipe Luis this week.
And the two clubs will speak again next week about Brazilian Miranda, who played a key role in the Madrid side's La Liga triumph last season.
Miranda told Atletico he wanted to leave this summer but his club turned down an approach from Barcelona last month, while an expected bid by Manchester United never materialised.
