Chelsea only clear buyer for Valencia's Villa

Chelsea must cough up big for Valencia striker David Villa.

The Daily Star says Chelsea will have to pay as much as £33m in order to land Spanish sensation Villa.

The Blues are desperate to land the Valencia striker, but his club have now upped the price after his four goals at Euro 2008 and their own cash-flow problems.

Villa has been a target for Chelsea since his impressive Champions League displays in the last couple of years against the Premier League side. It was thought a fee of around £20m would capture the 26-year-old, but now the price has gone up, especially given that Villa himself has made it clear that he would prefer to stay in Spain.

The only problem for the player on that front is that there does not seem to be any takers that will pay the money Chelsea will.
