Guarin's agent and Inter officials were in London a fortnight ago for talks with Chelsea over the Colombian's sale.
L'Equipe says Chelsea hope to do business by offering Demba Ba in a swap.
Inter are keen, seeing Ba as a replacement for veteran striker Diego Milito, who comes off contract in June.
