After his superb start to the season Branislav Ivanovic looks set to land a new £60,000-a-week contract at Chelsea. The Serbia international defender has started seven of the Blues' nine Premier League games so far in the campaign and has been an ever-present in Champions League Group F.
Since joining Chelsea from Lokomotiv Moscow on a three-and-a-half-year deal for a fee of around £9million in January 2008, the 26 year old has become a key member of Carlo Ancelotti's squad.
Now the champions are said to be willing to hand the defender a 50 per cent pay rise, which would take his annual salary to around the £3million mark.
